Dolores is a municipality in the Valencian Community, Spain. Located in the south of the province of Alicante in the Vega Baja del Segura region.About 10 km (6.2 mi) from the nearest beaches in La Marina and Guardamar.The life of this town of Vega Baja revolves around the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga where, between pines and palm trees, stands the Town Hall and the Church.The town has lots of shops and supermarkets and 4 charging points for electric cars.The street market held every Friday morning in Dolores situated in Avenida Alcalde Jose Rodriguez 9:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m
The most important monument is the 18th-century church, with sculptures by Salcillo and Roque Lopez. The two most important fiestas in Dolores are the Feria de Agosto (August Fair) in early August; and the Fiesta de la Virgen, in mid-September.The Feria de Agosto is one of the more important fairs of Spain, and it features a Spanish Horse Contest. More than 1,500 horses are shown each year in all sorts of games and activities. Cattle and dog contests are also held at the fair.
The natural reserve “El Hondo” which is suitable for wheelchairs and baby strollers.This unique wetland is an authentic oasis for flora and fauna, surrounded by the semi-arid landscape characteristic of this area.El Fondo Natural Park has a series of official routes . We, on this occasion, are going to take the yellow route , a simple itinerary along a wooden walkway around the park’s Information Center.The is also an observatory and a museum inside. A picnic area with several tables, as well as a birdlife observatory, Bird watching is popular here also due to its abundance and diversity of birds. Surrounding the information center is the botanical garden, with a wooden walkway that crosses a small lagoon.
Dolores is accessible from the Autovia del Mediterráneo motorway and a new motorway from Elche, and is about 20 minutes away from the Alicante international airport
